Subtracting with tidy number

This week we were learning to solve problems by equal additions that turn one of the numbers into a tidy number.

E.g 183-68=68+2=70-100=30+80+5=115 if you want to know if your answer is right you add 115 to the

68=60+8 +100+10+5=100+60+160+10=170+5=175+8=183

Maths Activity

This week Ive been learning the reversibility strategy for example: 137-69 then you reverse it 69+something=137=69+1=70then70+30=100then 100+30=130+7 then you add the 1 , 30 ,30 and 7 then you add them all together and you have your answer. I am confident in using this strategy

The Hare And Tortise

A tidal wave is expected to hit the eastern coast of New Zealand later today. That’s what I heard when Gran said on the radio at breakfast time.
The earthquake in Chile has started the Tsunami now it was coming across the border towards New Zealand

Gran was delighted. She loved disasters! “When I was a girl I remember there was a wave like this,” she said. “It smashed the yachts across the river,”

After breakfast Gran showed me into town where everybody was talking about the wave. The shop people were all busy putting goods from the bottom shelves to the top shelves. In the fruit shop, Gran asked Mr Chan if he thought there was any danger.
“At home, lady,just to be safe, You take the lovely child with you” He replied in his polite way.

Out in the street, everyone seemed to be all in the same direction. They are not going home. Gran kept asking people they were hurrying to. “Up the hill to get a good place to see the wave,” one woman said.

“Good girl,” said Gran. She took my hand. “Come with me.”
And we marched off towards the top of the hill to see a good place.

The Mana Spirit Show

The Mana Spirit show this morning taught me to respect other cultures and to be proud of who I am. It also reminded me how important family is. This was such a wonderful show.

Pentcost

pentcost is a special time for the church because the holy spirit came down to the disciples and help them to spread the word of god preach the gosple who are the disciples? We are so we have to preach the word of god

Leader Ship Retreat

Aboarding a leader ship retreat is truly an honour because it brings out another side of you and shows who you really are.

On the retreat we had an activity called the treasure hunt, I was the only boy in my group. When I am the only boy I find it hard to work as a team, but I noticed that I was communicating well and cooperating.

Staying the night was pretty hard because I had so much energy left so I used that energy talking and sneaking around to my friends rooms. The point of us coming to this retreat was to teach us to be leaders. What I’ve learnt through out this whole experience is to put your differences a side and work together.

The Holy Spirit In The Scriptures

An Adventure The Movies

On the 26th of April was an amazing experience to the movies at Sylvia Park. We got there by train. We had about $100 entirely, we bought about six tickets altogether. Your probably wondering why me and Francis and the other boys had so much money.....so that you know, we earned this amount of money with our hands, we helped my father with some work that he had and he paid us.

Deciding a movie was a tricky subject, we all had to make one decision. This was my least favorite part of going to the movies because there are always arguments and disagreements. Thankfully in the end there is always a decision made and we watched ‘Fast and the Furious 5’.
We were in the largest cinema in the world it was pretty big and the seats are amazingly comfortable and your eyes are like glued to the screen . The movie had some awesome graphics and some amazing actors.

Wondering around Sylvia Park is such a mission because it feels like the whole of New Zealand is there, and you hardly know anyone that's there. There is a slight possibility that you might bump into someone that you might know. “Well its home time for us boys”

Mindless Behaviour

Mindless Behaviour are a group of dynamic 13 year old boys who are extremely talented they have one massive hit single which is MY GIRL that is a wonderfull song the names of these boys are Princeton Roc royal Prodigy Ray ray they are a good influnce on other teenages that want to make music the are one of my influences. There voices are amazing, Roc royal started rapping when he was eight and Prodigy got his name when he could master all new dance styles. Princeton got selected for tv adds like nike and all those other famous brands.

Net books net books what a cool tool
Net books net books not for fools
But there good for some learning
no chatting or listening to music during school time
we just like learning and learning having a good time

My Prayer For Jesus

Jesus thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I would like to thank you for all that you have done and how you were a good example to the disciples and how you humbled your self to wash the disciples feet.
Lord I ask that you help me how to humble my self to other people and help me to be kind to other people like you humbled your self when you went through the painful 14 steps

Lord I would like to ask you to give me wisdom on how to fast properly. like you did when you were tempted with the devil and how you could answer every questions that he asked.

Athelitcs Day

On Friday Saint Pius the 10th had a athletics day. I helped set up the field. The moment had arrived for the whole school to line up for athletics day. We were not starting on a winning streak, but we caught up. At last the racing began, the 5 year olds started racing, I was cheering on my team members.

Winning the eight hundred meter was a mission . I needed a lot of stamina. I new I was going to win. Because I'm good at long distance, the rest of them were only good at short distance. I felt proud, I wanted to scream but I had no more breath left. Then we had the two hundred meter. I came second in that race it wasn't easy but I tried my best.

we tried our best, to run we had some advantage because the other team made a lot of mistakes. But no one won in the end because there were to much mistakes. Then it came to the final decision to see who was the overall winners. We came last in the end but we were still proud, of ourselves we did some good running and we had good sportsmanship we didn't say you cheated we took our loss like a real team. Overall athletics day was pretty good, we enjoyed our selves and had a good time.
